Quick Q&A: Jacques de Jager, Information & Communication Manager at MobileData

What are the latest trends you are witnessing in your line of business?

Listening to people and reading about the "digital revolution", I believe we are only seeing the beginning of a very complex interconnected medium of communication and toolset that will change the way we live, do things and interact with each other.

Our dependency on these digital tools has given rise to technologies and classification of embedded devices like "Internet of things" and "bring your own device". Company IT departments must be expanded to accommodate these devices in a secure and manageable topology.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The opportunity to be involved in a team that sets the standard in the payment card and PIN-less recharge space and to be part of a dynamic team that provides a world-class product and service to Tier One service providers.

What is your favourite personal gadget?

I am not really a gadget man, but more a technology evangelist. My latest favourite, when time permits, is the pcDuino. This is a SOC [System on Chip]-based mini-computer, capable of running Linux and can be used as a penetration test device to home automation.
